,mA, ?, prdved Fdr Release 2004/05/08EClR T00042AO00100140008-6 AW Office Mern'randum ? UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO ? Management Officer FROM Assistant Director for Operations DATE: FEB 2 3 1950 SUBJECT: Correction to our memo of 17 February 1950, UTranslation Service provided by PDD to O.SO and UPCt1 1. It is regretted that there are two errors in the subject memorandum, as ;L oIlOWS a. In Paragraph 2 a, the average estimated monthly translation requirement of o U is given as 11310 pagest1s whereas it should read 11330 pages". This estimate is taken from a memorandum dated 28 Au- gust 1947 from AD/0SO to AD/OU, subject t"Request for assistance from Documents Section, Q011. b. In Paragraph 2b, the figure of 3,317 pages given for 030 requirements from 1 January 1949 to 1 January 1950 should be 41648 pages. The lower figure was incorrectly based on the total number of pages actually completed by F'?DD for that period (service pro- vided), rather than the number of pages requested by OSO (service required). At 4,648 pages, the latter would require 929.6 work days, or 4.2 full-time translators, rather than three translators as calcu- lated originally. 2. These changes do not, however, affect the general conclusions of subject memorandum regarding the economy of the present system of operations. 25X1 Approved For Release 2004/05/gEOT7-00042A000100140008-6
