Approved For Release 2d'01/4FIDE%4T ' 384R00100D0~T29-0 OGC HAS REVIEWED. 20 September 1950 PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ON DEPARTURE OF PERSONS FROM THE UNITED STATES Recognizing that the security of the United States may be hazarded by travel abroad by persons in possession of certain e*wMKWft information, and further recognizing that other persons contemplating travel abroad may possess an intelligence potential of significant value, I hereby direct each Federal Department and Agency: 1. To prepare, to the extent commensurate with its functions and responsibilities, a list of all persons in whom the Department or Agency has an interest if any such persons seek permission for foreign travel. 2. To furnish to the Department of State the names, birthplaces, and birthdates of all United States citizens on any such list. 3. To furnish to the Commissioner, Immigration and Naturalization Service of the Department of Justice, the names, birthplaces and birthdates of all aliens on any such list. b. This information should be furnished, as stated, whether or not there is any indication that departure is imminent. 5. Upon receipt of an application for passport frown any of the individuals listed by any of the Departments or Agencies, the Department of State will consult with the applicable Department or Agency before making a determination on approval or disapproval of the request for travel abroad.
