of the Senate Judiciary Gonmdttee.
1. The Director met at 1100 today with Mr.
Richard Arena,, Mr. Joseph MmuLix and Mr. Frank Schroeder,
of the staff of the Immigration Subcommittee of the--Senate
Judiciary Committee. Mr. Arens stated that the sub-

subversives into this country as United Nations officials
or as staff members of foreign embassies.
P.. They wish to explore the information avail-
able to Central Intelligence vdiich could be in turn made
available to the Subcommittee in executive session on
this question. The Director pointed out the fact that
this Agency was prohibited by law from having any internal
security functions, and that such functions were primarily
within jurisdiction of the FBI. He stated, however,
that he could make available to them information as to
the activities abroad prior to their arrival into the
United States of the various categories of people in
which the Sube ittee was interested.
3. It was agreed that the Subcommittee would
furnish us with a list of persons in whom it was interested
and about whom it desired information. They are primarily
interested in persons who come to this country under
various diplomatic cloaks, but whose primary duties are
fundamentally espionage or subversive activities.
