My dear Admiral Hillenkoetter:
Reference is made to your letter of August 5, 1948
concerning the title to property acquired by the Central
Intelligence Agency for its operations on the island of
Cyprus.
The Department has been successful in persuading
the local government of Cyprus to amend its Corporate
Bodies Laws of 1908 and 1931 so as to permit the United
States Government to own property on Cyprus. This
office's records do not indicate that it An received
the original Certificates of Registration STAT
covering the properties acquired STAT
by the Central Intelligence Agency on Cyprus. Only
photostat copies have been received. If your office
holds the original Certificates of Registration, please
inform this office so that the record will be complete.
