Reference: Cable 290955 from Chief, PBIB to dmonitor, Kyrenia. in compliance with the above reference? copies of the following laws, orders, and regulations of the Cyprus Government relating to the employment of labor are forwarded: (a. The Workmen's Compensation Laws, 1942-44.. b.. The Trade Unions and Trade Disputes Law, 1941. c. The Minimum Wage Law, 1941. d. The Trades and Industries (Regulation) Laws, 1937-42. The Trade Disputes (Conciliation, Arbitration, and Inquiry) Law, 1941. f'.. The Employment of Women During the Night Law, 1932-38 The Sumner Afternoon Recess Law, 1938. I have conferred with the Cyprus Commissioner of Labor and the District Commissioner, Kyrenia District, reference the application. of the Employment of Women During the Night Law, and the 3-Luivaer Afternoon Recess Law to the ?3 operation. The District Conmilsaloner has assured me verbally that these laws will not be applied to our operation. Ile is securing a ruling from the Attorney General as to whether, in a tecnical senee these two laws could be hold to govern our operation, and is so, will arange for the necessary exemption. 4. The Trade Unions and Trade Disputes Law is about to be revised to bring it into conformity with recent similar Legislation in England. The effective date of the new legislation has not been determined. Copies ,*ill be forwarded when available. ROGER 0.
