SUBJECT: Weekly Activity Report #1
30 December 1954 - 4 January 1955
A. SIGNIFICANT ITEMS
DATE: 5 January 1955
~. I Ireports that the projected procedures for
testing JOT candidates in the field by using professional contacts
of the A&E Staff (Ref. Report #39, 29 September 1954) cannot be put
into effect before 1 February at the earliest and probably not before
1 March 1955. This delay can have a very serious effect on the
recruitment of JOT's during the period of maximum activity and is a
matter of added concern because of the anticipated problem that has
resulted from the drastic reduction in the number of recruiters which
has taken place in the last few months. It is planned to bring candi-
dates whose files warrant it to Washington for pre-employment physical
exandnation, testing, and interview, but this can be an exceedingly
expensive procedure. It may be that, as was done in the past, arrange-
ments can be made to send qualified people to the field to do some of
the testing.
B. NORMAL ACTIVITIES
1. Of the ten JOT's who took language aptitude tests (Ref. Report
#51), four received highest ratings
(outstanding aptitude); one received second rating (above average aptitude);
four received third rating (average aptitude); and one received fourth
rating (less than average aptitude).
2. JOTI has offered his resignation verbally,
indicating that only personal reasons are the cause.. He has expressed
great satisfaction with his work here and with his experience in the
JOT Program.
