SUBJECT: Items of Interest for the Period
14 August 1956 to 20 August 1956
1. On Thursday, 16 August 1956, the CIA Introduction Program was
conducted for 70 persons.
Audience evaluation: Mediocre.
Attached is a detailed breakdown of those in attendance.
2. On Tuesday, 14 August, 1956, C/OB/IS conducted a special briefing
for the new Chief of Security, Department of State, Mr. Edward
Bailey. He was accompanied by Mr. Minor, his Deputy.
3. Mr. ~ of NEA requested that C/OB/IS conduct a VIP briefing
for a "key international fireman. " Since C/OB/IS will not be
available for this undertaking, he recommended that it be done by

conduct the briefing.
4. The 27th CIA Review Program was conducted by C/OB/IS on the
afternoon of Tuesday, 14 August 1956. Fifty-three persons attended.
Though this has always been classified as a tough audience to melt
and win, this particular group was more tolerant than usual.
5. C/OB/IS had a discussion with Mr. about 25X1
a deck of Soviet playing cards which lampoon religion and all
western world economic and cultural ideas. Mr. had not 25X1
seen these cards. He exhibited a keen interest in the idea. This
came to the attention of C/OB/IS from a member of a recent SIS
class. C/OB/IS will give to Mr. a set of the negatives on 25X1
such playing cards from which copies will be made.
6. On Monday, 20 August 1956, C/OB/IS conducted a special briefing
for 18 special agents of the Office of Security.
