B. OTHER ACTIVITIE
1. Qualifications Review panels convened on 5 July and considered
applications for full-time ro ams in Soviet area studies,'agriculture,
economics, Engineering, area and language and language
(3 applications). All a atter were recommended for the intensive
internal program beginning in September. Eight of the nine applicants
were interviewed earlier in the week.

6. The Office of security. in seeking ways to attract some of its 25
summer employees to consider subsequent service with the Agency, is estab-
lishing an orientation program for these employees. We have assisted by
identifying languages and areas of study for which some parts of the Agency
have recognized need.

7. In discussing plans for and arranging for lecturers for the forth-
coming course on Northeast Asia, has found that both NSA and the
Army Map Service are considerably interested in the LAS Area Program and it
