3. At the 23 October meeting of the Inter-Agency Training
Committee, Mr. Bates of Agriculture made some complimentary
comments to the group on the three hour "Introduction to
Communism" Messrs. onducted several weeks
ago. Mr. Stearns of A stated that his organization would
definitely be interested in having CIA provide a somewhat more
thorough and advanced orientation on Communism for selected
senior officials. Mr. Stearns will get in touch with Chief,
SIC to make precise arrangements.
4. Lt. Cmdr. Olson of the Naval Intelligence School dis.
cussed with Chief, SIC he Communism coverage
in the CI Section of the NIS nine month course. Olson requested
additional assistance in this program and Chief, SIC agreed to
the inclusion of three hours on Communist doctrine, strategy,
and tactics. This increases to eight hours the commitment of
SIC in the NIS schedule.

1. On 19 October the SIC staff had a morning long session
with a senior official from a foreign security service who has
been working on the indigenous party for the past eight years.
Session was an extremely profitable one from the point of view
of the entire staff and it is hoped that similar discussions
can be arranged in the future.
2. met with Chief, A&E on
19 October To discuss generally the evaluation pro ems of the
various courses in SIC and possible new procedures to be adopted.
It was agreed at this meeting that a revision of the evaluation
form for IOC would be worked out with A&E and IS.
