1: GENERAL: This CSSOP prescribes the cable disseminataon requife-
ments for General Counsel.
2: MISS'ON: The General Counsei ~s responsible for all legal matters
arising in connection with the official business of the Agencyp for the
legal aspects of all legislation affecting the Agencyp and for the
maintenance of the Agency?s liaison with the Co~agrese of the United States.
3. REQUIREMENTS: Unless otherwise indicated, one copy of each cable
described below is disseminated to the Geners.I Counsel:
a. Cables involving legal matters or raising legal questions both
covert and overt sad related to. among other things, claims and benefits.
b. Gables concerning the legal relationship between CIA and outside
interests and/or CIA proprietary activities.
c. Cables concerning Congressional matters and U. S. legislative
information of any type which relates to CFA functions or personnel.
This" includes trips of Congressmen, both separately and as comnnittees.
d. Cables containing cryptonyms or pseudonyms registered with tt~e
Cable Secretariat as being of interest to GC.
e. Cables requesting information concerning laws of the United States.
f. Cables regarding tax. patent and copyright matters.
