3. Snator Jenner, Cheirrnan of the Internal Security Subcommittee,
commenced hearings this morning on Senate Resolution 247, which he and
Sen. McCarran have introduced, urging a breaking of diplomatic relations
with the USSR. These hearings will be broadly designated under the title
of the "Strategy and Tactics of World Communism", and Sen. Jenner plans
to string them out for propaganda purposes. The opening witnesses today
were Professor Constantin Eoldyreff of Georgetown and Col. William F.
Heimlich. Prof. Boldyreff talked of NTS and defectors, but did not get into
any security matters.
