Approved For Release 2000/08/17 : CIA-RDP59-00224A000100320004-6 84TII CONGRESS 1ST SESSION S. 147 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES JANUARY 6, 1955 Mr. KNOWLAND introduced the following bill ; which was read twice and referi d to the Committee on Foreign Relations A BILL To require that international agreements other than treaties, hereafter entered into by the United States, be transmitted to the Senate within thirty days after the execution thereof. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That title I, United States Code, is amended by inserting 4 therein, immediately after section 112a, a new section as 5 follows : 6 "? 112b. United States international agreements; trans- 7 mission to Senate 8 "The Secretary of State shall transmit to the Senate the 9 text of any international agreement other than a treaty to 10 which the United States is a party that has been signed, Approved For Release 2000/08/17 : CIA-RDP59-00224A000100320004-6 Approved For Release 2000/08/17 : CIA-RDP59-00224A000100320004-6 2 1 proclaimed, or with reference to which any other final for- 2 mality has been executed subsequent to the date of enact- 3 ment of this section. The text of any such international 4 agreement shall be transmitted to the Senate within thirty 5 days after it is signed, proclaimed, or other final formality 6 is taken with reference to it and shall be referred by the 7 President of the Senate to the appropriate committee of the 8 Senate or joint committee of the Senate and House of Rep- 9 resentatives." SEC. 2. The analysis of chapter 2 of title I, United States Code, is amended by inserting, immediately after item 112a, the following : "112b.
