1. There is hereby established a category of officers of tip: eentrei
Intelligence Agency to be known as boreiga Intelligence Officers, They s W De
Lesblect to such provisions of the Foreign.Service Act of 1946, as hereto are Car
hereafter amended (hereinafter referred to as the Foreign Service Act), 41d o:
any other provisions of law which are or may become applicable to Foreig# :er,ie
Officers, as the Director of Central intelligence (hereinafter referred to as t
Director) may by regulation direct.
2. Such authority as Is or may become available by statute to the j ecre nary
of State with respect to Foreign Service Officers, shall be available o
basis to the Director of the Central intelligence Agency with respect to l irate .li ;euee
Staff Officers, except for the following sections of the Foreign Service; het .crr
portions thereof, which shall not apply to Intelligence Staff Officers: ` itin no
section 401(1) (Chiefs of Mission), section 411 (Chiefs of Mission), thelfirs
three sentences of section 412 (classes of career ambassador and career r:inis:.er),
421-422 (officers temporarily in charge), 431 (Chiefs of Mission), 541-51C (p:i 'c= -
pal diplomatic representatives), the second and third sentences of sect1pn 51(
(lateral entry), 518-519 (career adbassadors, career ministers, and chies'b or m svic ii ,
571(b) (eligibility of Foreign Service Urfie ers to serve as Director here -ral) ,
section 631 (retirement of career ambassadors and career ministers).
