I greeted and told him that some s

ary pertaining to his 1954"earnings with our organization had
come to my attention and, thinking it might be of use to him in the
preparation of his tax returns, I was calling to pass the information
on to him. At this point assumed a most unfriendly atti-
tude, one which has never been present in any of our previous conver-
sations. He indicated that he had not filed an income tax return and
that he had no intention of doing so. He said that if the Internal
Revenue people came after him that he would refer them to "you know

"Your organization has pushed me as far as I can
possibly be pushed. For the years of service I spent with

I don't have a dollar to my name. I am living on my family

Throughout the conversation, II reiterated that he was not
blaming me because he knew that I was not directly involved. We dis-
cussed his compensation claim and its present status. He was appre-
ciative of our efforts in this respect. However, he kept returning
to the major problem with renewed emphasis.
4. I indicated that I would discuss our conversation with Mr.
Houston and the inference, if not the actual word, was that someone
would be back in touch with him.
5. The essence of the above information was conveyed to M,r.
Houston at approximately 4:30 P.M. on this date.
