25X1 A6a 1. There is attached for review and appropriate action
an automobile accident claim against M in the amount of
$100.51. This insurance subrogation claim from the Govern-
ment Employees Insurance Company, Washington, D.C. arose
as the result of an accident between an Agency-owned vehicle
25X1A6a (assigned to Communications bearing EO tags, and a
privately owned automobile which occurred near Fairfax., Virginia
on or about 23 April 1954.

25X1A6a 2. The statement submitted by our driver,
(staff employee of Comoro assigned to MM indica es t at his
truck skidded to a sudden stop in order to avoid collision with
a third car which made a sudden turn from Route 50 into Graham
F OIAb6 Road. It is noted that the other driver, by
his own statement indicates that he was traveling at a speed of
45 miles per hour whereas the accident report form submitted by
our driver indicates that the accident took place in a 35 mile
limit speed zone.
3. It should be noted that the Government Employees
Insurance Company submitted this subrogation claim to the Com-
25X1A6a manding Officer, _ as of 30 November 1954 whereas the accident
took place in April 1954 and the insurance company apparently
settled the collision liability claim with its policy holder as
of May 1954.

4. This office concurs in the position taken by
F OIAb6 in the third paragraph of his memorandum of 6 December 19 that
does not appear to have a valid claim against the
United States Government.
5. Any action taken with regard to the subject claim should
be handled through and on behalf of the Commanding Officer, - 25X1A6a
so as to avoid compromising the cover status of that 3n-'
stallation. Should this case ever be taken into court,

it is believed that appropriate action could be taken to protect
the cover status o~ard that no serious compromise would
result.
