1. The Senate Appropriations Committee held an open
hearing on the appropriation request for the CIA building. The
Director attended, accompanied by Col. White, and Messrs.
50X1 Saunders, Paul, Chandler, Repre-
sentatives of GSA were also present, as were a number of other
individuals who appeared in opposition or in favor of a location
of the CIA headquarters in Langley.
2. The Director sent a letter to Senator Clinton Anderson
urging the passage of an amendment to Section 143 of the Atomic
Energy Act of 1954 which would permit the interchange of
restricted data between "Q" cleared personnel of CIA and certi-
fied personnel of the Department of Defense.
