Discussed with V. illiam 4400dysar. State Ltepartment. the proposed Omnibus Foreign tervice Legislation and made arrangements to forward to him a copy of *0 Director's letter of 23 :ti.ay 1958 to the Etueau of the Zudget. ;.? oodyear advised that the eureau of the iludget had cleared the legislation with some changes and hearings would be held on the Cenate side in about ten days. 3. Talked with Mr. lianatos in the office of :castor Joseph C. O'Mahoney (Wyo. ) to make arrangements for a constituent to view the pipe organ in the 'V- ashington Auditorium. 4. Telephoned Congressman Joe Halt's office and talked with Miss Porter to make arrangements for the breakfast on 2 Aily. the will furnish us with a list of the SCIS Club members as well as those expected to attend. 5. After discussion with V ilhtaxn Bundy. Colonel ',Awards and Ctazx Grogan. I teleshoned Congressman Charles 0. Porter (Dreg.) and informed him that it was our policy to offer no comment on matters such as and under the circumstances there was no reason to change that policy In this case. This was satisfactory with Mr. Porter who had had second thoughts on the matter in any event and felt he was being placed in a difficult position and did not wish to take any fezther action on it. I believe this settles the matter as far as the Congressman is concerned. STAT STAT 7. D'Arcy Brent telephoned to indicate that the briefing of the staff of the JoInt Committee on Atomic ZAtergy on the scope of the Oirectorts proposed briefing went very well.
