program. This is is compliance with the agreed position of the Committee
as expressed at the 4 Dece er meeting. Further discussions sherd take

29 Jasu meeting. This method of action was chosen because so existing

.. Polish and Czech Steed IamdiaastThe Department of State is
exploring the possibility of an eexdMage with Pound and Czechoslovakia,
i vin the respective steel industries. The American Iron and Steel
Institute is being asked to act as the sponsor. The XAC Standing
Committee on Ex es has bees asked for a statement of set istelligesce
Mvastage and itinerary advice. Simce the decision involves several I/!C
Standing Committee pronouncements, it van felt that the C ttee shoulA
take direct responsibility for the reply to the Dwpartment of State request.
To faaailitste the reply, the appropriate CPR branch has prepared a draft
sty t which cam provide a basis for consideration. A copy is dis-
