MEMORANDUM FOR: Acting Director of Central IntellA ence
SUBJECT: Medical Care for Dependents
1. This memorandum contains a recommendation in
paragraph 3 for approval by the Acting Director of Central
Intelligence.
2. One of the benefits we sought in our legislation last
year was medical benefits for dependents of empl_ovees overeeas.
While our legislation was not na3sed, similar legislation was
passed for the Department of State and they now have a system
of medical benefits for d.enenrents.
3. I recommend that you apv,)rove adopting the benefits
*,ranted to the Department of State for all CIA personnel stationed
overseas. I have discussed this with the Generkl Counsel to the
Comptroller General, who has no objection provided we pursue
our request for legislation on this matter. We also agreed that
all payments, even in the case of vouchered personnel, would
he paid out of confidential funds.
