1. SIGNIFICANT ITE
1. Lectures in the JOT program appear to be proceeding
quite satisfactorily. I believe the teaching approach being
assumed byl has gone over well. As a result
has continued his lectures in this same vein. conferred

stance of the course. As a result of these discussions we will
provide =with either outlines or transcripts of a number of
the lectures and seminars of most interest to his school in order
that he can emphasize and refer back to various points contained
therein. Arrangements have been made for to return
to give one of the lectures in the latter part of the program in
accordance with your suggestion.
2. The preview of the CBS television programs, "The Red
Sell" was received with considerable applause by the group of
seventy-five to one hundred U.S. officials. It was attended by
about ten Agency people including General Cabell. The films doc-
ument and analize Soviet propaganda activities and, comment, through
CBS correspondents, on its effectiveness. The conclusion is that
it is not only "later" but darker "than you think."
3. The presentation schedule for the
is proceeding quite satisfactorily. Mr. Kirkpatrick arranged
to have Mr. Dulles and General Cabell act as host for a luncheon
for and several members of his staff. General

luncheon after their respective presentations. In view of the
purpose of our presentations there I alerted to

II. OTHER ACTIVITIES
7. SIC's next major project at the conclusion of the JOT
program is to be a "cleanup" with specific reference to a vault
area where a great accumulation of unnecessary and obsolete
material hampers the efficient filing of up to date matter. An
attempt will also be made to set up an index of what is to be
kept and arrange for periodic review.
8. Tutorial Training -
There were no requests for tutorial during
the period.
1. A request from the chief of 00 to have a course in
"Organization and Operations of the Communist Party" put on at
from 5 - 29 January 1959 was accepted.
2. Commander Gorman of the Naval Intelligence School at
Anacostia called to arrange for two lectures, one December 2
on "Theory and Practice of Communism" and the other on December
5 on "Soviet and Satellite Intelligence Systems." He will forward
an official request. will handle the

about communist use of the polygraph and interrogation
