Dulles Post Office Box 1513 Main Post Office Washington, D. C. As I think you already know, the School is sponsoring this summer a special Conference on "Contemporary Africa" along the lines of the one held last summer on "The Problem of Soviet Imperialism". As last year, the Proceedings of the Conference will be published by the Johns Hopkins Press. The enclosed tentative program will indicate the intended scope of our deliberations, as well as the names of those who will present papers and lead the discussion period which will follow in each instance. Others attending will include a limited number of American and foreign scholars prominent in the field, U. S. Government officials, United Nations representatives, and top- level business executives from American firms having interests in the area. I do hope that you may be able to accept this invitation to join at least some of these sessions, and would appreciate it if you would let me know at your earliest convenience whether or not this will be possible, using the enclosed pre-registration card for the purpose. I shall look forward to hearing from you, and shall hope to have the pleasure of seeing you in August. Sincerely yours, C. Grove Haines Director of the 1954 Summer Session ' CGH:an Enclosure Approved For Release 2009/04/07: CIA-RDP61-00017AO00300010003-9
