Thank you for your letter of 17 January 1956. informing
me of the establishment of a subcommittee of the House Armed
Services Committee, with exclusive Committee jurisdiction over
matters pertaining to the Central Intelligence Agency.
I want to assure you that this Agency will cooperate in the
fullest measure with this subcommittee, and to inform you that
I shall be happy to appear before the ccxmmittee at its convenience.
I am pleased to note that you anticipate a meeting in the relatively
near future. as I have a number of matters, some of a rather
pressing nature. which I feel should be discussed with this sub-
committee.

You will recall our previous couversations regarding the desirability
of appointing s subcommittee of the Home Armed Services Committee, with
exclusive Committee jurisdiction over matters pertaining to the Central
Intelligence Agency.
Following consultation with the Simkins Minority lember, Honorable
Dewey Short, I today obtained permission of the Full Committee, in
Open Session, to appoint such a subcommittee. The mumbership of the
subcommittee is as follow;
