SUBJECT:
Visit of Edwin Waal and Cyrus Vance
16 January 1959
em orane a is for information only.
2. Subsequent to your telephone conversation with Mr.
no**. I talked further with Cyrus Vance to gain any possible leads
as to any specifics and any preparations we might need to make.
Mr. Vance indicated that from their standpoint the figures presented
last year were still frost enough in their minds that we need only
deal with the differences between the figures as thou presented and
the current figures. Since this was by telephone I presume that by
figures he was referring to missiles, probably long-rang
forces and even possibly snbmariaas. In addition, Mr. Vance Indicated
they would be interested in some discussion as China. This Wor
was made available to Mr. Sheldon.
3. Mr. Vance stated that Mr. aisl and he were still associated
with the staff of the Preparedness Investigating Subcommitteeee and were
also associated with the staff of the Space Committee, both of which
are under the chairmanship of Senator Lyndon Johnson. TOP SECRET
clearances an both individuals are still current.
