CHAIRMAN, COMMITTEE CH FOREIGN AFFAIRS
For immediate release
Representatives of the Central Intelligence Agency appeared
before the House Foreign Affairs Committee today to conclude a
briefing, the first portion of which was presented on 29 January
1959. Allen W. Dulles, Director of Central Intelligence Agency,
on 29 January briefed-the Committee in detail on the military
capabilities of the U.S.S.R. Mr. Dulles discussed the threat
faced by the free world from international communism indicating
that the threat is an aggressive campaign based on positive action
programs with political, economic and subversive objectives. The
increased potential of Communist China was also outlined.
Today Mr. Dulles and Mr. Robert Amory, Jr., Deputy Director,
continued the presentation. Specific situations throughout the
world which are of interest and concern to the Committee were re-
viewed.
