Transmittal of CIA Opinion Regarding the Soviet
Moon Probe Operation on 2 January 1959
I. In accordance with request of Mr. Spencer Beresford, Staff
Director of the House Committee on Science and. Astronautics, there
is forwarded herewith a summary statement regarding the Soviet moon
probe operation on 2 January 1959.
2. The format and scope is generally in accord with our con-
versation with Mr. Beresford. on 22 May.
