Hungarian Cartography: 1958
I have a feeling that this is a mostly house-organ piece that
has been dressed up in an effort to interest the general reader.
It might have been better had the writer played it straight, and
aimed the article only at his professional colleagues. As a technical
report, the article is good. I do question the necessity of a
functionless "Conclusion".
Recent Maps from Communist China
Good and straightforward. I think it might have been jazzed up
a bit, capturing part of the audience which otherwise would pass it by,
if the maps, or publications containing maps, were listed at the very
beginning so as to give the reader a bird's eye view of the contents.
Geological Map of the Soviet Arctic
Administrative Divisions of British Guiana
Travel Restrictions in Hungary
After one arrives at the concluding sentence of this article,
he wonders why the trouble was taken to write it. The article starts
off very interestingly, but it would seem in retrospect that it was
mostly a researcher's academic exercise.
Overall response: Not a very balanced issue--all maps, little
general geography.
