1. According to who has been coordinating the current
G-2 request for briefings, one of the principal reasons for the re-
questa having been directed to the Director of Training rather than
through normal liaison channels was the very positive reaction of the
last group to SIC's portion of their program. Apparently Lt. Col.
Allegro, officer in charge, passed the word in G-2 that officers who
were being posted overseas and who were not taking the SIS course,
should receive a similar briefing. This could easily result in a
further expansion of SIC's Phase II activities, since once these
programs get started there appear to be countless candidates who
really need the training.
2. At the request of in WH I have agreed to
give a briefing to twenty Latin American newspaper representatives
at the Department of State on Friday morning. It is to cover aspects
25X1A of CP strategy, tactics, and organization which would be applicable to
current Latin Amer can CP activities. This would normally have been
done by but he is not available and WH appeared to be
25X1C somewhat desperate for a substitute. They've built up a large credit
with SIC through their constant participation in the ACO, so I felt
25X1C that we should help them out. I will a ear under
as a Latin American
expert, but merely as an analyst of Communist tactics and organization.
3. I hesitate to open up old wounds, and I may be asking for
a lot of trouble, but the question of General Cabell's "Chamber of
Horrors" keeps intruding into my thoughts. It has been neglected
("ignored" would be more accurate), and has not been built up beyond
what he saw on his last visit. I have the impression that it has

been forgotten, but I certainly don't want you to be embarrassed by
a call one day from the General asking for a showing to some dis-
tinguished visitor. A resolution of this problem would be very useful
in my planning of SIC's activities over the next few months.
