OTHER. ACTIVITIES 1. Latest in the series of staff planning sessions concerned with our reoriented area program took up the matter of basic subjects which will be common to all our AAO briefings, whether given to individuals or to classes. The ideas expressed at this meeting will form the basis of a policy which I expect to draw up in early January. The degree of emphasis to be given each subject in a particular briefing will be left up to the instructor and will of course vary with the area covered. 2. Our eight-hour briefing on Latin America appeared to be somewhat more successful than the previous one in September. While of OCI (on American policy and Latin American institutions) latecomers gave us a total of 10. was the attrition of original enrollees (from 15 to 8), though two and my opinion. In addition, I am now able to handle two periods without assistance (on basic strategic factors and conclusions regarding the Americans abroad problem).
