SUBJECT: Weekly Activities Report

1, a.rc devoting their time and energies towaa.rd whip-
-ping the IOE course into final shape for its December offering. The course
schedule has been revised and tightened. A ~,elccted and annotated ret'.ing
list is in preparation. Class problems are being devised applying the
problems and -principles of Overseas Efficiency to Agency work. And perhaps
rest importantly a li-t of lecturers and panelists who are le-,.ders in their
respective fields is being; set up.
2. With on board, we are making preparations for expediting
the entire te3ting program on a priority basis so that those with the high-
est cln.imed proficiency in the morc si nifica.nt languages will. be tested
the e:_.rliest. In the meantime, as Chief of the 74esearch Branch, is
starting work on revision, improvement and extension of the written tests.

5. Forty-three people reported fo_i written proficiency tests last
week in Bulgarian, Burmese, Portuguese and Russian. Fourteen orals were
given in German and Portuguese this past week.
