OTHER ACTIVITIES 1. was able to advise F_~ of the Commercial Staff, on a Japanese legal problem. were consulted at length by Mr. Allen Brown, of Stanford, who is writing his dissertation on the "Political Influence of the Japanese Emperor to 19+51. 3. Forty-two people reported for written Proficiency tests in Chinese, Czech, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. 1. A total of 36 orals were given during the past week. 5. Forty Certifications for Language Award certificates were sent to the Registrar last week. 6. Beginning Monday, August 3, the language laboratories will close at 2000 hours.
