1. While available intelligence on Ghana has proved generally
sufficient for the preparation of this estimate, there was inadequate
information on:
a. the nature, strength, and aims of pressure
groups within the CPP and its affiliated organizations;
and
b. the relations of the Communists with extreme
leftists within the CPP and its affiliates, and with potential
terrorist groups associated with the United Party.
2. We would also have benefited from more information on:
a. the strength of CPP leaders within the party
and their relations with Nkruma.h and each other;
b. the strength and aims of the various groups
within the United Party, and their attitudes toward CPP
leaders;
C. the value and availability of Ghana's financial
reserves; and
d. the relationship of the army with the CPP.
