Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/12/18 : CIA-RDP61-00549R000100260002-5 0 P Y DEPARTMENT OF STATE Washington IAC-D-99/5 1 July 1958 June 27, 1958 MEMORANDUM TO John Heires, Secretary, IAC FROM Chairman, Committee on International Communism SUBJECT : Report Pursuant to IAC Directive--Reference IAC-D-99/2, dated January 24, 1956 In accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on International Communism (CC) contained in the report of August 19, 1957 (IAC-D-99/4) by my predecessor, F __1 as approved by 25X1 the IAC on September 10, 1957, the Committee has supervised the development of coordinated requirements on international communism and reviewed changes in the basic Priority National Intelligence Objectives (DCID 1/3, formerly DCID 4/6). The Committee, consequently, met once since the submission of the last report to review the intelligence objectives regarding international communism in the light of the revised draft of the' Priority National Intelligence Objectives DCID 1/3. The Committee agreed that no substantial changes were necessary, and the Secretary of the Committee subsequently agreed to certain structural changes recommended by ONE to.bring the intelligence objectives regarding international communism into conformity with the language of DCID 1/3. The Committee also expressed its approval of the first sets of consolidated covert intelligence requirements drafted by CIA. The procedure for drafting and coordinating these requirements as outlined in report (IAC-D-99/4) seems to be working out quite well. Recommendation: 1. That the IAC take note of this report.
