MEMORANDUM
TO John Heires, Secretary, IAC
FROM Chairman, Committee on
International Communism
SUBJECT : Report Pursuant to IAC Directive--Reference
IAC-D-99/2, dated January 24, 1956
In accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on
International Communism (CC) contained in the report of August 19,
1957 (IAC-D-99/4) by my predecessor, F __1 as approved by 25X1
the IAC on September 10, 1957, the Committee has supervised the
development of coordinated requirements on international communism
and reviewed changes in the basic Priority National Intelligence
Objectives (DCID 1/3, formerly DCID 4/6).
The Committee, consequently, met once since the submission
of the last report to review the intelligence objectives regarding
international communism in the light of the revised draft of the'
Priority National Intelligence Objectives DCID 1/3. The Committee
agreed that no substantial changes were necessary, and the Secretary
of the Committee subsequently agreed to certain structural changes
recommended by ONE to.bring the intelligence objectives regarding
international communism into conformity with the language of
DCID 1/3.
The Committee also expressed its approval of the first sets
of consolidated covert intelligence requirements drafted by CIA.
The procedure for drafting and coordinating these requirements as
outlined in report (IAC-D-99/4) seems to be working out
quite well.
Recommendation:
1. That the IAC take note of this report.
