Reference is made to your memorandum of July 10, 1956, to
the Chairman, State-Defense Military Information Control Committee,
recommending that the Committee take appropriate action to permit
the dissemination of ,National Intelligence Estimates

At its meeting of July 18, 1956, the State-Defense Military
Information Control Committee approved an exception to the
National Disclosure Policy to permit the dissemination of National
Intelligence Estimates 25X1
pending the co p e or a e n ve security evaluation
o a epartment which would permit a renegotiation of the above-
mentioned Agreement.
A copy of the note from the Acting Secretary of State
advising lof the substance of this action
