2. Approval of Minutes

Approved as written, subject to the deletion of the last two
sentences of paragraph 3 b and substitution of "Final action was
deferred until the next regular IAC meeting. " (See item 5 below. )
Mr. Arneson advised the members regarding the present
status of the State Department paper on the Middle East referred to
in the third subparagraph of item 2 b.
3. Situation Review

b. Review of Sensitive Situations
The Chairman referred to recent reports bearing on the
situation in Saudi Arabia, and discussed in particular with the members
the nature, and possible implications for the US, of new arrangements
for the distribution of power within the Saudi Arabian Government.
Mr. Sanger of the State Department also commented on these develop-
ments.

The members exchanged views on the Indonesian situation,
especially on matters such as the probable nature of future military
operations, the movements of a Danish cargo vessel in the area and
the acquisition of additional aircraft by the central government forces.
4. Information Report to IAC
on the Defector Program
(IAC-D-8/40, 20 March;
Limited Distribution)

Noted this report. In this connection, referred
to the progress being made by the Interagency Defector Committee 25X1A
in the preparation of DCIDs on defector activities. He also advised
the members on recent US contacts with (para. 2,
page 2) and both General Schow and he then commented on possible
future plans for handling this returnee scientist. In addition, Mr.
25X1A _ informed the members on the circumstances surrounding the
apparent defection of

After exchanging views the members approved an amended
version of paragraph 17 of the new NSCID No. 1., for submission to
the NSC.

At General Schow's suggestion, the members reviewed
again the question of changes in paragraph 4 of NSCID No. 2
(IAC-M-333, item 3 b; IAC-D-105/18. 1, p. 2). After discussion,
the members approved an amended version of paragraph 4 for
submission to the NSC.
