5. Pains
A ORR Project No. 314.1033, Developments in the Soviet
Metal-working Machine Industry, was initiated 25 January
1956. It is proposed to compare US and Soviet capabilities
in this field as to outputs, replacement policies, and
new plant construction, with special attention to planned
rates of growth through 1960. Scheduled for Branch
completion 2 February 1956, it is expected this study
will support CRR Project No. 10.803, and will be eligible
25X1A9a for publication as an IM. Principal analysts are
B. Study is continuing on plans for the Fiscal Year
1957 Branch research program. It is hoped by advance
planning to develop recommendations which will provide
maximum intelligence returns from the time available
for the branch program.
