ECONOMIC DEFENSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES
2:30 p.m. Monday, October 28, 1957
Room 619 District National
Reproduced below is a letter dated November 12, 1957 from the
Defense member to the Chairman of EDAC relating to the minutes of the
EDAC meeting of October 28, 1957.
Dear Admiral DeLany:
In order to avoid any future misunderstanding of the matter,
it is requested that the Minutes of the EDAC Meeting of October 28,
1957 be corrected. The position taken by the Defense Member should
be recorded as follows:
"The Defense member did not concur in the Chairman's
decision, although he would not appeal the matter since State
seemed to feel that the U.S. should take immediate action. He
further stated that Defense still felt it had not been demon-
strated that this export is reasonable and necessary to Polish
civilian consumption and use, and that his Department would
communicate to the State Department its dissatisfaction over
the lack of any clear interpretation of the interim Polish
policy as it relates to trade controls."
Sincerely yours,
/s/ W. B. Thorp
