Approved For Release 2000/08/22 : CIA-RDP61 SO052 AA000200030036-4 Services Division Corittee an E. - Satellites y~ .Ytiq Y~.i~Y~ ( Sat Co=ittee meeting -- 21st Meeting - 1330 15 August 1956) Present: 25X1A9a Four FDD linguists met with the EuSat Caaarittee an 15 August for the purpose of discussing procedural problems and substantive satellite developments which are of mutual interest to FDD and ORR personnel. Those attending from FDD were 25X1A9a 25X1 A9a representing Czecboslovakia and and 25X1 A9a representing Poland. 25X1A9a The principal point of interest developed in the meeting, from the standpoint of the FM exploitation effort, was that the satellite linguists had recently been directed to concentrate their activity on certain fields rather than attempt to cover the whole gamut of economic inforeaation. Economic services were not included in these limited fields and, while services are not to be ignored in the translation effort, D/S will receive less than has been supplied heretofore. The FDD representatives stated that Poland and Czechoslovakia are showing a definite tendency to officially release more economic data. This tendency was particularly evident in Poland. When asked for their views of significant economic developments in the two countries under consideration, the FDD representatives noted a number of points of interest. Among them was the observation that, with respect to CF.MA, Czechoslovakia appeared to have been given responsibility for engineering industries. Mr. noted that, 25X1 A9a in Poland, officials evidently were seriously concerned about certain basic problems of the worker such as wages and unemployment.
