A. Accomplishments
1. In support of the review of International Lists in COC"OM and
in the EDAC structure, 7! items, which had been referred
back to Washington by the USDF,L, were reviewed and in 12 cases
additional intelligence was furnished to EDAC W.G.I. Preliminary participating
country positions in C00914 on the electronics, chemical equipment,
petroleum products and petroleum equipment, general industrial
equipment)and metals and minerals categories were prepared for use
in brief in of CIA technicians scheduled to go - to assist the 25X1A6a
2. Intelligence support was furnished to EDAC W.G. I in connection
with 14 exceptions cases to Poland and 9 exceptions to other Communist
countries. Eight cases involving shipment by the US of commodities
and technological data to Poland and Communist Bloc, iiiich were considered
by the ACEP Operating Committee, also were serviced from an intelligence
point of view.
3. At the request of the Executive Secretary of the SIC, CIA views
on a proposed revision of security restrictions on the publication of
data on imports and exports of certain Atomic Energy materials were
coordinated.

re resentative,furnished information on ore-crushing plant sold by
to to the USSR.
5. EDIC/ID-2t (revised) - The Availability of Diamonds in the
USSR - was prepared for distribution, and action initiated on EDIC
Case No. 29 - The Sino-Soviet Bloc Tire Industry.
6. Memoranda were prepared (a) for DCP concerning Soviet and
Satellite purchases of industrial diamonds and (b) for EDACW11 II
transmitting and explaining a chart prepared by DD/P on two well known
East/:,,iest trading complexes; four cases were established on possible
diversions of strategic materials to the Sino-Soviet Bloc.
7. Intelligence support was provided as necessary to EDAC '7 .II"
on 11 Administrative Action Cases; at request of EJ:DAC WL. II, clearance
of 4 CS reports and one State Dep't despatch was obtained for dissemi
nation and use abroad; one request for clearance was refused.
8. At the request of Chief D/S, a memorandum was prepared out-
lining the value to S/TB of CS reports and the support rendered by

this branch to the clandestine services.
9. A total of 263 documents were scanned, of which 163 were
selected for multiple carding; 3 requirements were submitted to
St/I/R; one evaluation made of a GS report; and 16 requests for
name intelligence were serviced for Departments of State, Treasury,
and Commerce, DD/P, OCR, OCR/Its and DR.
