CIA Comments on Inventory of
1953 External Research
1. Attached are comments on the April 15 inventory of a
number of CIA offices.
2. Although I believe you will find it helpful to go over all
of the comments in some detail, I think you may wish to consider
the following especially carefully:
a. The suggestion of Dr. Andrews, OCD, that we
consider coordinating the ERS inventory with other
related compendia, particularly the CIA Intelligence
Publications Index and the National Science Foundation
reports. Perhaps the appropriate coordinating device
is the NSCID-16 Advisory Committee on Foreign Pub-
lications. You may also wish to consider the advisability
of publishing completed research and research in progress
in two separate volumes in order to obviate the library
problems referred to by OCD.
b. The comments of on the handling
of the National Intelligence Survey. You may also want
to check with on his statement that there
are several inaccuracies in certain parts of the NIS
appendix.
