HTAUTOMAT'. Display of Results
of Various Configurations
I. Thursday afternoon, Z May, HTAUTOMAT held another
of its "County Fairs"--an organised display of materials achieved
through the various camera configurations of both AQUATONE and
and including the APO-56. This was attended by
representatives of the various agencies.
Z. As usual, HTAUTOMAT had done an imaginative and
thorough job of presentation. Representatives of the agencies
present were enthusiastic. A more complete display was expected
within the month when additional materials will be available, such
materials as from the C configuration when bugs have been removed.
3. Items which were most noticeable to me but with which
no doubt you are already familiar are
M. The improvement in the quality of the
photography.
b. The potentially important effects upon H work
from oblique photography made possible by the new rectifying
equipment now being installed in HTAUTOMAT.
c. The amazing amount of intelligence available from
four times blow-up of the tracker.
d. The favorable comparison of APQ-56 photography
with some of the tracker film.

4. Comparative studies of the results of various configurations
over the same subject matter, which I understand will be made possible
by recent test photography, will be extremely helpful in allowing the
requirements people to define intelligently what configuration is required
to meet which of their needs. A good understanding of capability by
these people is essential if Operations is to get proper guidance.
