a Copy each cbannel of the 11 ci*nnel tape aata a
obannel tape, one channel of vhich carries the signals,
1 a voice annotation of the time of each look-ono
Cr digital number indicating the radio frequency
left or right ala411310 and the third channel carries
c .in central (AC) information
h. Playback the three chennel tapes at savvier three
channel analysis position reading out vbere possible the pules
repetition frequency (NT) the scancret* and other genorkl
characteristic* of the signal, recording this information
on a speoial ohart suitable for future copying on en ISM cord
c. Sorting out this information into three groups;
"'Knave types of signals, *Unknown" types end a third group
designeted "indeterminate" in which are grouped all *tangle,
noises end all other odd ball hits upon vhich not enough data
vs* present to identity them as being valid signal* or whether
resulting troe equipment malfunction.
d. tieing every facility from further mays
scope photography, to collateral iCtornation then
transfer the indeterminate groups to either known' or unknowns.
Write a report on the above for submission to a groMP
with the responsibility of determining the intelligence
the analyzed SZINT data.

As there is only ons set of X racks in the area aM this is
t the OSI =INT laboratory it vas *arm& that CZ i*uid do aU
work. It as also agreed that IPC would undertike the
out of two of the missions, namely 2037 and 4065 while
d a complete readout of 4066 and 4069.
4. Phase a (copying) has been completed for all four
This breakdown of the 14-channel tapes resulted in some 65 3-c1*nne
reels of single channel for initial analysis and 33 reels of double
channel for study of simultaneous and identical prf on two channels.
a,. Phase b (initial readout) has been completed for Mission
4065 and 4069 end partially completed for 4066
b. Phase c has been completed for Missions 4065 and 4069
0. Phase d which is the most difficult is underway for
Missions 4065 and 4069. This ;tees is the most tiee-oonsuming and
possibly unrewarding, although reoessary for a complete readout.
d. Phase e has not been started.
5. It is evident at this time that the time necessary to canpiste
the readout of all four missions bee been underestimated because
quipment difficulties and the esneral leek of knowledge of the problems
involved in a complete readout of such a versatile intercept sampling
system.
6. o give SU spproxite idea of whet has
far there was an approximate total of 5800 Interco
of known radar, 1250 intercepts of valid signals Alio
identified Ana 250 intercepts in the indeterminate ale
will be changed someWhat in the final Mort,
7. it is estimated that the 1230 uanow*
signals from approximetely 80-100 different radars and that
able to identify 50 $ of these. Of the 250 indeterminate signals ve
waY be able to eliminate 50$ of these as equipment malfunction. No
estimate can he made of the time involved or the probability of tying
down the remaining 125 odd ball bits. It is probable that not more than
10$ of these can be identified.
8. To reduce Missions 4069 and 4065 to the statue indicated in
the preceding paragraph will UR* one more week. in other words the
completion of two of these missions for MINT readout will have taken
six weeks. Inasmuch as ell copying has been finished arid to the fact
that 2037 and 4066 were not as productive of signals it is estimated
that they can be completed in from 3 to 4 weeks after 4065 and 4059 are
ccmnleted.

a.
a versatile sampling eystem
b. hSg disclosed many "bug*" in the system
which should be imediately rectified. As this is a prototype
model this is somewhat to be expected and action hap already
been taken =many- at the items.
c The analysis equipment for speo in reading
out System IT has also been subject to mew disorepancl's and
failu?. which has +mused delay in copying and readout procedures.
Meny of these hove now been rectified.
d* System iv his a tremendous range capability.
curacy of the information bee been pro,en by

ters is known and is comparable to the
Obtained from the missions.

t the tapes from this mission as It took
sort out and mark correctly the prf
hie on this 30 second lock-on.
g. The experience seined in this first reedout of System
XV will result in much *hurter time for future analy* s
Ii. It is intended that a report be prepared on Minions
1065 and 1069 before campleting Missions 2037 and 4066 end then
prepare a separate report for 2037 and 4o66.
