1. In cooperation with the users of ~research, CIA is on-
deavoring to make an assessment of the value of research completed
to date, The
udy are the ones to which we would appreciate your
response in terms of the following questions:
a) To what extent have you and your staff used the studie
b) What specific parts of this study have directly influenced
your operations, programs or planning?
c) Would yourhave recommended expenditure of your agency's
funds to assist in the production oflthis study or any part
of it?
In your opinion, is the conduct of such research
a worthwhile object for,governmental financing?
If your answer is in the affirmative, what criteria do you
think should be applied to the use of government funds ?
2. If you can identify specifically in question (b) what operations,
programs or planning have been directly influenced, this would be
very helpful.
3. It would be appreciated if your response could be received
by 4 September.
