C. 25X1A9a MEMORANDUM FOR 1AI G CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY SUBJECT: Request for Intelligence Information 1. The Directorate of Intelligence, Headquarters USAF is responsible for estimating the air defense capabilities of the Sino-Soviet Bloc. Talent operations present an unprecedented opportunity to study these capabilities in critical areas of the Soviet Union. The above requirements 2. Some Comint reaction material on track and altitude of intruder aircraft and attempted intercepts have been received. This information has been of limited value since intruder actual route positions, times and altitudes have been lacking. 3. The Directorate of Intelligence can provide the urgently needed reaction estimates providing the following information on Talent operations is provided: a. Mission number and date flown. b. Flight profile from take-off to landing including true courses, altitudes and air speeds (true or indicated). c. Pilot observations to include: (1) Fighter attacks (coordinates, time,altitude, number and type of aircraft, weather and visibility, tactics and armament involved). (2) Non-attacking aircraft (coordinates, time, altitude, number and t e of aircraft and weather and visibility).
