Trends should be expressed in terms of an integrated appraisal of the status of each program in achieving the objectives set forth in applicable p4 ion security policies, par t.i cularly NBC 560211, This appraisal should take into account not only developments in the U. S. program but also dwVelgp- lments elsewhere in the Free World and in the Soviet Bloc which affect the I ability of the program to achieve policy objectives. The President has further directed that each status report be as concise as possible con. siatent with adequate presentation. Accordingly, it is requested that the Central intelligence Agency, in consultation with other departments and agencies as may be appropriate, and with the assistance of the IBC Special Staff, submit promptly by August 15, 1956, two copies of a report on the status of the foreign intelligence program as of June 30, 1t95b. The content of this report should follow the general lines n Part 7 of NBC 51525, but should include material called for by NBC Action 1L30?r as a separate annex, appropriately cross-referenced where feasible to the body of the report. In the preparation of this annex, it is requested that you coordinate with other interested agencies as appropriate.
