SUBJECT s Proposed Inclusion of EDIC within the Economic
Intelligence Committee Structure

to The Economic Defense Intelligenca Committee (FDIC), at its
meeting of 3 September 1958, approved the proposed reorganization of
EDIC as a subcommittee of the Economic Intelligence Committee (EIC) (See
EDIC/MM228 9 September 1958), In his memorandum of 5 September 1958
(copy attached), the Chairman of EDIC so advised the Chairman of the EIC,
requesting early EIC consideration of the proposed reorganization for
subsequent submission to the Intelligence Advisory Committee (now United
States Intelligence Board - USIB) for approval
20 The Economic Intelligence Committee, at its meeting of
n September 1958 (See EIC-M-'fib, ll September 1.958, attached), considered
and concurred in the proposed EDIC reorganization, endorsing the views
of the Chairman of EIC concerning future EDIC operations within the EIC
structure as outlined in his memorandum of 22 August 1958 to the Chairman
of EDIC (reproduced in EDIC/A-368 26 August 1958)-
3o 'ehe proposed FDIC reorganization as approved by the membership
of both EDIC and EIC is now being submitted for approval by the United
States Intelligence Boardo
