Mr. Edward Ames, who is my alternate as Federal
Reserve representative on the EIC, has shown me your let-
ter of June 3, requesting his participation in the Sub-
group on External Financial Operations of the Intelligence
Working Group. We note that this work would be in con-
nection with his work as Chairman of the working group on
the Soviet bloc balance of payments of the EIC Subcommittee
on Trade and Finance. In view of the desirability of co-
ordinating the work of the EIC working group with the ]WG
subgroup, I agree with you that his membership on the sub-
group should be useful. This letter is to inform you there-
fore, that Mr. Ames will be able to participate, as requested,
in the work of the subgroup.
