SUBJECT : Application of Virginia Income Tax for CIA
Employees Working in Langley
STAT Mr. Houston called to say that I I has referred
to him a report of some rumor that when we move to Langley we will
be subject to the Virginia income t . Would you look into this
STAT and get up a memorandum to The rumor also has it that
Virginia attempted to impose this tax on the Pentagon people but
was defeated by virtue of an old statute which holds that the
Pentagon is within the District. (Quite obviously the rumor, or
my repeating of it, is non-sensible.) Quite aside from the
Pentagon, surely this would have come up with respect to other
Federal installations in Virginia. Mr. Houston feels that there
is some urgency on this.
