THE STATISTICAL REPORTING PROCEDURE FOR MINIMUM SHIPMENTS
March 4th, 1959
Present: Belgium(Luxembourg), Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy,
Japan, Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States.
1. The GERMAN Delegate referred to-he procedure of reporting statistics
of minimum shipments to the Secretariat. Previously details of minimum
shipments' licences had been reported in advance from the regular monthly
statistical returns but he had noted that most Delegations were now giving
details of minimum shipments within the framework of their monthly returns
only, The Delegate said that he was quite satisfied with this procedure,
he simply wished to have a clear understanding of the situation.
2. The UNITED KINGDOM Delegate said that he was in full agreement with his
Gorman colleague that the most satisfactory way of returning minimum shipments
was with the normal monthly statistical returns. The United Kingdom authorities
had returned minimum shipments'in this way for the last three months.
3. The FRENCH Delegate said that ho agreed entirely with the German and
United Kingdom Delegates. The French authorities always included details of
minimum shipments in their regular monthly returns.
4. The CHAIRMAN confirmed that it was the Committee's understanding that
details of licences issued for minimum shipments should be sent into the
Secretariat as part of the monthly statistical returns.
