Approved For Release : CIA-RDP62-00647A0001002 i;O ;4 26th July, 1960. COCOM Document No. 4100 COORDINATING COitIMITTEE RECORD OF STATEMENT BY THE ITALIAN DELEGATION ON PROPOSED ITALIAN EXPORT OF BORON PRODUCTS TO CZECHOSLOVAKIA 25th July, 1960 Present: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States. References: COCOM 3232, 4042 and 4084. The Delegate introduced his Delegation's Memorandum (COCOM Document 4084) in which an earlier request to export 500 tons of boric acid to Czechos- lovakia contained in COCOM Document 3232 was re-submitted for the consideration of the Committee. The Delegate pointed out that this request was almost iden- tical to a subsequent United Kingdom case which had received approval from the majority of delegations (COCOM 4042). He explained that this export would take place within the framework of a Trade Agreement between Italy and Czechoslovakia, under whose terms Italian imports of finished products including boron would amount to 4t 4,000,000. Moreover the quantity of finished products containing boron to be imported by Italy would account for a quantity much greater than the boric acid proposed for export (enamel, glassware, etc.). In conclusion the Delegate asked the Committee to set an early date for the views of Member Governments. Approved For Release : CIA-RDP62-00647A000100220103-4
