Approved For Release 2000/08/23 : CIA-RDP62-00647A000200020001-8 CONFIDENTIAL 17th May,1960 COORDINATING COMMITTEE MEMORANDUM BY THE FRENCH DELEGATION EXPORT OF CRYSTAL DIODES TO POLAND COCOM Document No. 229a_ The French Delegation refer to their Note (COCOM 3875) dated the 11th February 1960, concerning a request for the export to Poland of crystal diodes and transistors, and also to COCOM 3920 dated the 16th March 1960, in which the United States authorities raised an objection to the export of the diodes of types 8123 B, 8123 C, 8023 B, 8023 C and 8121 C as they considered that these diodes were not appropriate to the end-use indicated in the memorandum. The French Delegation have obtained information on the use of the crystals referred to and submit this to the Coordinating Committee herewith. 1. Type TH 8123 B is used in the Hertzian link system type TM 110 (link between the television camera and the transmitter). 2. Typo TH 8123 C will operate in television vans in Kattowitz. 3. Type TH 8023 B - in bulb voltmeters for the television frequency range and, above that level, for scientific exploration. 4. Type TH 8023 C will operate in the radar system installed on a civilian aF,rodrome (Warszaw-Okecie) to ensure the safe landing of aircraft. 5. Type TH 8121 C is intended for the rectification of radio high frequency current. The French Delegation would be glad if the Committee would be good enough, in view of the new details supplied, to give their views as soon as possible.
